The Moon and Back

(Thursday, February 18, 2010)

Dear friends and family,

This is Emily posting for my dad. We wanted to keep you up to date on dad's health, although "these nasty little diseases" are keeping him from writing a blog post for himself today.

Yesterday was a successful day of collection of white blood cells! I am quite new to the world of medicine and bone marrow transplants, but it is my understanding that they (the doctors at Moffitt) were able to rotate his blood through his body six times yesterday - collecting four million white blood cells! The collection went so well, in fact, that the doctors told him he didn't need to come back to the hospital today (Thursday).

Dad's body had other plans, however, and he (and Mom) returned to Moffitt today due to dehydration. He is in good hands and both Mom and Dad report that they feel an amazing sense of peace even in the midst of such an arduous process. We know that only God can provide a peace that truly does pass understanding, and we want to once again thank you for your prayers.

As Austin and I left the house this morning, my dad called out his familiar goodbye. "Be careful today. I love you to the moon and back!"

So Dad, although these drugs are making you a little "spacey and nauseous" as if you have actually traveled all the way to outer space - we all want you to know that we love you to the moon and back too!

Upon our return to Clearwater from Pensacola today, it was good to read Emily's comments added to Bob's blog. Thanks, Emily.
We too will love Bob and his family to the moon and back while we continue to pray for all involved in this journey.
Love,
Lex and Linda

What sweet words of love from a loving family- to the moon and back! During my treatment, I experienced dehydration although I did not know that was causing those feelings of which you described. The nurse told me that I needed to have fluids administered and I asked her what it would do for me. She said , "You know what a drooping flower does when you water it, how it perks right up. That's what will happen to you." What a difference it made immediately.
Praying for you and family,
Carol and Heyward

Isaiah 26:3 again comes to mind at this very moment after reading Patra's update today, 2/18/10 -
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusts in thee."
Praise Him!
Love and prayers,
Ruthie and Dave

What a lovely saying! The small joys of life that we can share; that is what it is all about.

My song during my treatments was "I get knocked down, but I get up again; nobody's going to keep my down" We will have our peaks and valleys but the journey with Jesus with us is so much more comforting.

Thanks again the entire "Bugg" family for sharing with us and letting us be part of the process.

Bob,
Harvesting, carburetor, Veg-O-Matic, Neupogen, julienne, Neostar double-lumen, Intravenous Central Line Catheter - I am getting a real education. I guess you are getting use to all the "needling" so I guess I should get to the "point". Your compassion for your family is so encouraging. Who ever thought mediation would become a family business. Growing up no one ever heard of making a living off mediating problems. Our parents did it for free. With all kidding aside, please know that you really are encouraging and thoughtful and strong for all of us. We are all blessed by who you are and who you represent. I just see Jesus in all you do. Praying for you always - Pat and Rea

Dear Bob,Patra and Family,
This is your old neighbor Kathy from across the street on 163rd. I think of you all often and miss having you close by. I have gained so much inspiration from watching your family through the years. I enjoyed when our children were young and played together. My daughter is all grown now with her 4th child on the way. My son born after you moved is going to be 18 in a couple of days. Thank you for including me in your life for the short time we had together. Thank you Bob for helping on a couple of occasions without asking for anything in return. You are a good man. Patra I enjoyed our friendship more than you know. I truly admire you. I am a nurse and would love to help in anyway if you need someone. Maybe on a day you just need company or more. Whatever your needs I am happy to help. I live in Pinellas Park now. (727) 267-6569 Love, Kathy
